An illustration is a visual representation of something. The pictures in picture books are called illustrations because they show what is happening in the books. We are drawing on inspiration from the writings of classic children's books and making our very own illustrations! How will you illustrate a classic tale?

Sometimes a story is called a NARRATIVE. How many ways can you think of to tell a story? Can you imagine telling a story without using any words? Throughout history, artists have been telling stories with their voices, images, and bodies. Many of the first humans told stories without any words at all, just pictures! This month in the studio, we’ll be exploring ways to tell stories in new and old ways.
