Join us in MAKESHOP to explore weaving. Experiment with scale, materials, and texture as you weave on a variety of looms.
Join us in MAKESHOP to tinker with ramps and tubes! Connect recycled tubes and build ramps to create a collaborative ball run.
Experiment with the height of supports and the length of tubes. How does the motion of a ball change?
Join us in MAKESHOP to explore pixel art. A pixel is the smallest unit of a digital image. How might you create still and animated images using smaller units? How do images change when they are made only of squares?
Join us in MAKESHOP to explore weaving with unconventional materials. Add warp strings to all kinds of looms, from sticks to recycled containers, then weave using a variety of materials as weft. What textures will you create? What kinds of things might you reuse for weaving?
Bring dimension and movement to your ideas with paper engineering! We’ll cut, fold, and attach paper to make creations that pop from the surface and spring into action. What stories can you tell with paper?
Join us in MAKESHOP as we sand, form, and attach different pieces of wood! Explore woodworking tools that shape, cut, drill and drive. What motions make the tools work? What job does each tool do?
While all ages are welcome to participate, younger visitors may need adult assistance. Everyone will be asked to wear safety glasses in the woodworking zone.
Join us in MAKESHOP as we explore the art and practice of sewing. Try different stitches, use needle and thread to attach fabric together, investigate the sensory qualities of fabric and fiber, and experiment with stuffing fabric shapes.
This month in MAKESHOP we are exploring simple machines. Join us as we investigate how inclined planes can make moving objects easier. Try adjusting angles and materials, then observe changes in speed and distance travelled.
Have you ever wanted to invent your own game? Use your imagination and game logic to create a new pastime, then share it with other visitors.
Join us in MAKESHOP as we experiment with coding! We’ll explore various web-based coding platforms to build games, art and more.
