FINE Art Residency
Could you be the next Fresh, Innovative, Non-stop Expression (F.I.N.E.) Artist at the Children’s Museum or MuseumLab?
The Fresh, Innovative, Non-stop Expression (F.I.N.E.) Artist Residency is made possible by The Fine Foundation
The Fresh, Innovative, Non-stop Expression (F.I.N.E.) Artist Residency Program is Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh’s longstanding, bold experiment to intentionally connect visiting children and youth to authentic and innovative art experiences developed by and with working artists in the community.
We took a brief pause on the F.I.N.E. Artist Residency in the last few years, but we’re eager to reinstate it in 2023!
The program invites working artists to connect with the Museum’s visitors through presentations of authentic art techniques using workshops, demonstrations and open exploration. Artists often use the residency as a way to push themselves and/or interpret their art in new and interesting ways that allow younger audiences to enjoy them through hands-on interaction. In the past, they’ve engaged with visitors through painting, sculpture, performance art, radio, fiber arts and more.
Artists work with our Creative Experiences Department to co-design and implement activities appropriate for learners of all ages and abilities.
Artists will be in residence with the museum and work collaboratively with museum staff to develop a public program to host at the museum.
The residency scheduling is flexible and will be determined between the artist and the residency’s project manager.
$2,500 artist stipend
Materials budget provided to support program development and execution
Artists working in all forms of fine and performance art are encouraged to apply.
The program is intended to share artist’s process and craft with visitors at the Museum through hands-on art experiences. Artists with demonstrated capabilities in their medium will be considered.
You must be 18 years or older to apply.
