Metalworking Camp Scholarships
Supported by Arconic Foundation

Scholarships are available for these two metalworking camps for Pittsburgh Public School students in grades 6 – 8:

Intro to Metals – June 16 – 20
Metal Enameling – July 14 – 18

You can apply for this scholarship after you register for camp by clicking on the link below and completing the form. If we are able to offer your child a scholarship, you will receive an email with registration instructions. You must confirm that you accept the scholarship promptly after being notified.

The camp weeks of June 16 – 20 and June 30 – July 3 are pro-rated as they offer only four days of camp. The museum is closed on June 19 and July 4.

Member Discount

Museum members will receive a code via email to use at registration to receive the 10% discount (enter in the field “Promo Code”.)  If you did not receive a code or have questions, please contact our Member Liaison at 412.322.5058 or  members@pittsburghkids.org. Museum membership will be verified upon registration.

June 16 – 20

Intro to Metals – SOLD OUT
Explore tools and techniques including wire work, sawing, enameling and soldering.  Presented by Arconic Foundation.

Note: Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh is closed on June 19. Camp rates for this week are pro-rated to reflect this.

June 23 – 27

Photography
Explore digital and film photography, learn to photograph different subjects, and see the world through a new lens. Participants will be introduced to the camera as a tool of self expression.

June 30 – July 3

Cosplay – SOLD OUT
Ready, set, transform! Learn costume design and makeup techniques to bring your own fantastic characters and stories to life.

July 14 – 18

Metal Enameling – SOLD OUT
Take a deep dive into the art of fusing colored glass to create unique imagery and patterns on metal. Previous metals experience is recommended, but not required.  Presented by Arconic Foundation.

July 21 – 25

Intro to Tools
Learn to safely use tools like drills, saws, and soldering irons. Hot? Sharp? Loud? No problem!

July 28 – Aug 1

Nature Exploration
Learn about plants, animals, and the natural world around you through observations, experiments, and play.

Aug 11 – 15

Sewing
Improve (or learn!) how to sew both by hand and on a sewing machine. Try different techniques and tools to see what styles suit you best.

Aug 18 – 22

Clay Exploration
Learn techniques to create coil pots, slab roll mugs and more in this hands-on ceramics exploration. Campers can pick up their kiln-fired pieces one week after the completion of camp.
