about the project
Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh has an ongoing partnership with Manchester Academic Charter School (MACS), with whom we share a campus. Our ongoing research agenda focuses on how a school and a museum can work together to transform education by bringing the best of formal and informal learning into conversation. We worked with the University of Pittsburgh School of Education to establish a Research Practice Partnership that aligns museum educators, designers, researchers, classroom teachers to empower youth together. Recent research has focused on the integration of art and making into the school day through Museum-led elective courses, integrating wellness-focused art experiences into students’ standardized testing schedule, and fostering a sense of collaborative belonging between MACS teachers and Museum staff.
