about the project

In this project, Museum educators are working with autistic youth to develop programs and guidelines about how maker education can affirm neurodivergent people and support their sense of belonging. Taking a Universal Design for Learning approach, the project aims to develop integrated supports so neurodivergent and neurotypical learners can experience museum maker education alongside one another in spaces that uplift all neurological experiences. This project is led by the New York Hall of Science and involves research collaboration with Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, Education Development Center, and Explora.
