Neil Mendoza

Neil Mendoza’s work combines sculpture, electronics and software to bring inanimate objects and spaces to life. By connecting digital and real world, he explores themes of the absurd, the humorous, the futile and the surreal. He has an MA in math and computer science from Oxford University and an MFA in design media art from UCLA and has taught classes on art and technology at Stanford and UCLA.

neil was the 2018 tough artist at the children’s museum of pittsburgh. he created mechanical masterpieces, a gallery of classical art reimagined for the 21st century, which is on display in MuseumLab. viewers can switch, disco, poke, water and inflate paintings to their heart’s content. musuemlab is also honorably displaying the hamster powered hamster drawing machine, an installation enabling a mechanical arm to hold a pen and draw a cute hamster!
