Blue Star Museums

As part of the  part of the Blue Star Museums program, we offer free admission to active-duty military personnel, including the National Guard and Reserves, and up to five family members from May 18, 2024, (Armed Forces Day) through Sept 1, 2024 (the Museum is closed on Labor Day) . This discount requires that you purchase admission tickets in person at our Admissions desk and is not available for online purchase.

Active-duty military ID required.* Family members must present a  dependent ID card (DD Form 1173) at check in.

*Active-duty military member does NOT need to be present.

RAD Summer Staycation

 

You can visit the Children’s Museum and many of Pittsburgh’s favorite attractions free this summer as part of RAD Summer Staycation! All you need is a current Allegheny County library card to make your reservation. Restrictions apply. Reserve your pass at RADpass.org.

Standing Discounts

Discounts must be used individually and not combined with other Museum discounts or for group visits.

free admission days

The Children’s Museum offers several free admission days each year, typically one each season.  Check the Calendar of Events for our next day.

Member Guests

Members may purchase guests admission at 20% off the regular admission price.  You have the option to purchase member guest tickets when you log in as a member to reserve your tickets online.

Military Families

Throughout the year, we offer a discounted admission of $5 to retired and veteran military members. Retired or veteran military ID required.

Outside of the Blue Star Museums time frame (Armed Forces Day to Labor Day), we offer a discounted admission of $5 to active-duty military members, including active Reserve and active National Guard, and up to 4 family members.

AAA Members

$1 off admission up to 5 people

Museums for All

Those who receive state-issued food or medical benefits can get reduced admission to the Children’s Museum as part of the Museums for All program:

  • Pennsylvania ACCESS card holders and Pennsylvania ACCESS EBT card holders receive $2 admission each, up to 4 people (including the cardholder). You must present a PA ACCESS or ACCESS EBT card and photo IDs for EACH ADULT being admitted on the card. Adult IDs must show same address as cardholder. Limit one card per household.

This discount is NOT applied for Pennsylvania P-EBT cards

  • SNAP EBT card holders from states other than Pennsylvania receive $2 admission each, up to 4 people (including the cardholder). You must present a valid ACCESS or SNAP card and photo ID at check in.

RAD Pass

The Children’s Museum is proud to be part of the RAD Pass program that offers Allegheny County library card holders ages 18+ free or discounted access to the region’s cultural assets. We offer free admission (up to 4 per family) on select days each week for qualifying visitors.  Visit radpass.org to learn more and reserve a pass. 

therapeutic support staff

We offer free admission to any therapeutic staff support, counselor, doctor, therapist or nurse that accompanies a visitor as part of their professional responsibilities.

A valid employee identification must be presented when you check in.

All convention attendees at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center receive a 50% discount on one adult admission,

Reciprocal Admission

Association of Children's Museums (ACM) Reciprocal Network

If you are a member of another children’s museum in the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM) Reciprocal Network, you can receive 50% off admission up to 6 people listed on your institution’s membership.

Please visit the ACM website for a complete listing of participating museums.

You must present a current membership card from an ACM Reciprocal Network museum with the ACM Reciprocal Network logo on the card and a valid photo ID with proof of residence to receive this discount.

Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC) Travel Passport Program

If you are a current member of an institution in the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC) Travel Passport Program, you can receive free admission for up to 2 adults and up to 3 children listed on your institution’s membership.

Admission tickets must be purchased in person at our Admissions desk; not available for online purchase. You must present a current membership card from an institution in the ASTC Travel Passport Program and a valid photo ID with proof of residence to receive this discount.

Note:  You must live more than 90 miles away (“as the crow flies”) from Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh for benefits to apply.  Membership to Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh is not reciprocal with membership to Carnegie Science Center (Pittsburgh, PA) or the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum (Canton, OH), and vice versa.
