CAMPS ARE FOR YOUTH IN GRADES 6 – 8, AGES 11 – 13.

Grade levels refer to the grade your child is rising to in the 2024-2025 school year.

All camps take place in MuseumLab, next door to Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh.

Metalworking Camp Scholarships
Supported by Arconic Foundation

Scholarships are available for these two metalworking camps for Pittsburgh Public School students in grades 6 – 8:

Intro to Metals – July 8 – 12
Enameling – August 12 – 16

Apply for this scholarship by clicking on the link below and completing the form. If we are able to offer your child a scholarship, you will receive an email with registration instructions. You must confirm the spot within 5 business days of notification.

Note: Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh is closed on June 19. Camp rates for the week of June 17 – 21 are pro-rated to:

Members: $335 per week
Nonmembers: $375 per week

*Children’s Museum members receive 10% off camp rates and the extended day option for PreK – K camps. Use code MEMCAMP10 at registration to receive this discount.  Museum membership will be verified upon registration.

Graphic Novels
Graphic novels are both stories and art! From storyboarding to character development to design, learn the skills to create your own illustrated work.

Note: Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh is closed on June 19. Camp rates for this week are pro-rated to reflect this.

June 24 – 28

Cosplay
Ready, set, transform! Learn costume design and makeup techniques to bring your own fantastic characters and stories to life.

July 8 – 12

Intro to Metals
Explore tools and techniques of basic metalworking including wire work, sawing, enameling and soldering. Presented by Arconic Foundation.

July 15 – 19

Coding in Action
Use code and computers to create cool projects in the real world, from controlling robots to cutting wood with a laser.

July 22 – 26

Model Houses & Miniatures
Build and decorate a small-scale house of your own design. Decide on the function, furnishing, and style of your unique space.

July 29 – Aug 2

The Science of Art
Art studio meets science lab in this immersive camp for curious creatives. Explore processes such as the chemistry behind paint, the engineering in sculpture, and the tech behind digital art.

Aug 5 – 9

Clay Exploration
Learn techniques to create coil pots, slab roll mugs and more in this hands-on ceramics exploration. Campers can pick up their kiln-fired pieces one week after the completion of camp.

Aug 12 – 16

Enameling
Take a deep dive into the art of fusing colored glass to create unique imagery and patterns on metal. Previous metals experience is recommended, but not required. Presented by Arconic Foundation.
